Maple Bear Opens Its First School in the Democratic Republic of the Congo

Posted in Maple Bear Global on Wednesday, September 16th, 2026

Maple Bear Global Schools is proud to celebrate an important milestone in the continued growth of our global network: the opening of Maple Bear Kinshasa, our first school in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC).

Maple Bear Canadian School Kinshasa officially opened on August 22, 2026, bringing Maple Bear’s bilingual education approach to families in Kinshasa and marking a new chapter in our presence in Africa.

The official opening brought together families, educators and members of the local community to celebrate the beginning of a new educational community in the DRC.

Bilingual Education in English and French at Maple Bear Kinshasa

Maple Bear Kinshasa welcomed students for the start of the 2026-2027 school year on September 7, offering programs for Bear Care, Toddler, Nursery, Junior Kindergarten (JK) and Senior Kindergarten (SK).

The school offers a bilingual immersion model in English and French, giving young learners opportunities to develop language skills naturally as part of their everyday learning.

At Maple Bear, our educational approach combines the best of Canadian educational practices with the requirements and expectations of the communities in which our schools operate. Our curriculum is developed by Canadian educational experts and continuously updated to reflect current educational research and practices.

Through engaging, student-centred learning experiences, children are encouraged to explore, discover, build confidence and develop a strong foundation for their future.

Expanding the Maple Bear Global Community

The opening in Kinshasa further strengthens Maple Bear’s growing international presence. Today, our network includes 500+ schools in 35+ countries, serving more than 70,000 students worldwide.

Each Maple Bear school shares a commitment to educational quality while reflecting the culture and community of the country it serves. Maple Bear’s arrival in the Democratic Republic of the Congo brings this global approach to a new community of students and families.

As Maple Bear Kinshasa begins its first academic year, we are excited to welcome its students, families and educators to our global community and to see the school become part of the Maple Bear story.
