My training experience surpassed my expectations. The school staff were incredibly positive and eager to improve their practice. The teachers opened their classes and were earnest during our professional dialogue and co-teaching experiences; it was clear that they were eager to grow professionally. It was a truly rewarding feeling to see my years of experience and skillset being valued as a capacity building asset.

Beyond sharing my know-how, my immersing into the school for the three weeks made me reflect on my own practice; it was that spark that keeps us current with our professional beliefs. I left Brazil confident that I had an impact and that, through the relationships I built, the work we started was in good hands.

The relationships one builds within Maple Bear are incredible! From the central office to other trainers, there is such cohesive feeling that we all belong and share the joy of wearing the Maple Bear pin. There are always big smiles when we bump into another trainer at the airport.

I really want to express my abundant gratitude to the Maple Bear family for offering me such rewarding challenges in my retirement years.

I traveled to Brazil 10 times, visited 22 schools, worked with countless teachers, coordinators, owners and students. I’ve made lifelong friends abroad and in Canada.

I’ve had the opportunity to be a working tourist, tasting the food, culture and even learning the language! So many of the people I have met have impacted my life, and I hope I have left a ray of sunshine and encouraged their self-confidence while teaching the Canadian way.

I will continue to promote Maple Bear to my colleagues, urging them to join the team. I loved working for Maple Bear and wish the company all the best for a great future expansion.
