The Growth of a Global Education Leader: Maple Bear Global Schools Expansion Journey

Posted in Maple Bear Global on Wednesday, July 8th, 2026

In 2004, Maple Bear Global Schools was founded with a simple but powerful idea: bring the best of Canadian education to families around the world. The goal was to create learning environments where children could thrive academically, grow confident in two languages, and develop the skills they’d need to succeed anywhere.

Twenty years later, that idea has grown into something remarkable.

Today, Maple Bear operates more than 500 schools across 35+ countries, serving over 70,000 students. From bustling cities in Brazil to growing communities in the UAE, Maple Bear schools share a common foundation: Canadian pedagogy, bilingual immersion, and a deep commitment to putting students first.

How Maple Bear Global Schools Expanded Worldwide?

Maple Bear’s growth didn’t happen by accident.

It was built on a clear value proposition: a bilingual education network grounded in one of the world’s most respected education systems, adapted thoughtfully to meet the needs of local communities.

Since the first school in Delhi in 2004, Maple Bear has taken a partnership-first approach. Rather than rapid scaling, the focus was on supporting regional partners, school owners, and educators with the tools and training they needed to succeed. That meant proprietary curriculum, operational frameworks, and ongoing mentorship — all designed to maintain academic quality while giving local teams the flexibility to connect with their communities in meaningful ways.

The bilingual immersion methodology became a cornerstone of the model. Students learn English through play, projects, and everyday classroom experiences. For families, it’s an education that opens doors. For investors, it’s a model with both social impact and strong market positioning.

A Global Network Takes Shape

Maple Bear’s expansion has been intentional. The network now spans six continents, with schools in North America, Latin America, Europe, Asia, Africa, and Oceania.

  • In Brazil, schools meet strong demand for Canadian-style education in communities seeking alternatives to traditional models.
  • In Central and Eastern Europe, including the Czech Republic and Serbia, families are drawn to bilingual education and globally recognized academic standards.
  • In Asia, markets like India, Vietnam, and Singapore value the model’s alignment with international university pathways and its emphasis on critical thinking.
  • Recent expansions into Ghana and Australia demonstrate Maple Bear’s ability to enter diverse markets while maintaining the quality and consistency families expect.

Each region benefits from localized support and training tailored to the unique needs of educators and students in that community.

Maple Bear Global Schools’ Commitment to Quality Worldwide

Growth at this scale requires systems that support both consistency and the human expertise needed to deliver meaningful education.

Academic quality assurance is central to the model.

Schools undergo annual evaluations, and Canadian education professionals provide hands-on mentoring to teachers and school leaders. Operational excellence is supported through the Global Excellence (GLEX) framework, which assesses everything from facilities to administration and provides tailored improvement plans.

Professional development has also been a priority at Maple Bear Global Schools.

Since 2015, Maple Bear has brought together its Canadian faculty each year to share knowledge and refine curriculum. In 2024, that gathering expanded into the first Global Conference, bringing together regional partners, school owners, and educators to align on strategy, celebrate shared wins, and strengthen the global community.

A Model Built on Collaboration and Social Responsibility

Maple Bear’s franchise model is designed to support both business success and educational impact.

Franchisees receive comprehensive onboarding and ongoing mentorship from Canadian trainers who understand the realities of running a school. They join a network where best practices are shared, challenges are solved collaboratively, and innovation is tested thoughtfully across regions.

Beyond enrolment growth, Maple Bear has built a reputation for giving back. Initiatives like the Terry Fox Foundation campaign have raised over $400,000 for cancer research, instilling values of empathy, service, and global citizenship in students and school communities worldwide.

What’s Next?

Maple Bear continues to innovate in response to evolving educational needs and global opportunities. The organization is advancing flexible K–12 pathways that prepare students for success both locally and internationally, ensuring graduates have access to world-class post-secondary options.

The Dual Diploma Program through Maple Bear International School Toronto creates clear pathways to universities worldwide, while programs like Global Connections connect students across countries to collaborate on real-world projects focused on sustainability and leadership, building the skills and mindsets needed for tomorrow’s challenges.

As Maple Bear looks ahead, the focus remains on what has always driven the organization: creating exceptional learning experiences for students and supporting the educators, families, and communities that make this possible. The network continues to grow, grounded in proven pedagogy, the trust of families who choose Maple Bear, and a shared belief in the power of education to change lives.
