Sao Paulo, Brazil (May 18, 2015) UNICEF Brazil and Maple Bear Schools are pleased to announce the Maple Bear Hug project, a partnership that will benefit thousands of disadvantaged Brazilian children. It combines the ability of UNICEF to ensure that children in vulnerable conditions are supported with education, health and protection, with Maple Bear’s engagement and academic expertise.
The project is expected to mobilize over R$ 2 million to support the UNICEF Brazil country programme. Funds will be raised by engaging Maple Bear schools and their communities of students, teachers and parents, as well as a Matching Fund created by Maple Bear Brazil.

The Maple Bear Hug project has two major objectives over the next three years. The first is to raise funds to support the implementation of UNICEF Brazil country programme, thus significantly enhancing the quality of education of children in the country. Secondly, it will raise awareness of the situation of vulnerable children in the communities where Maple Bear schools are located.
The partnership was formally launched on May 14th at the Hotel Royal Palm Plaza in Campinas during the 7th Annual National Maple Bear Convention. The announcement was jointly made by Gary Stahl, UNICEF Representative in Brazil, Rodney Briggs, President of Maple Bear Global Schools and Chairman Maple Bear Latin America, and Andre Nudelman, President of Maple Bear Latin America.
UNICEF and Maple Bear Schools share a common belief that a better and fairer future depends on the welfare, education and opportunities provided to all children.
